General safety measures
- OPENCAST is a medical device and can only be handled by medical personnel.
- OPENCAST must be stored at temperatures below 45℃ to prevent unwanted deformation.
- It is forbidden to use OPENCAST for purposes other than thermoplastic fixation.
- Patients with extremely sensitive skin must consult a doctor before use.
- If any complications occur during use, consult a doctor immediately.
Safety measures during application
- Choose the appropriate size of OPENCAST fixation for the patient's limb.
- Make sure OPENCAST does not press on injuries. OPENCAST should not be in pressure contact with the patient's skin.
Safety instructions
- OPENCAST shrinks and hardens a bit as it cools. When applying OPENCAST, take this into account and shape the fixation slightly larger than the desired shape.
- In places where the bone comes into contact with the OPENCAST material, you can use additional suitable internal padding for cushioning. (e.g. elbow, ankle, etc.).
- Do not apply any pressure to the OPENCAST fixation until the OPENCAST fixation has cooled and taken its final shape.
- When shaping the OPENCAST material, do not use excessive force (e.g. stretching, shaping, etc.). Excessive force may cause the OPENCAST material to crack.
- Do not use excessive force when finishing the shape of the OPENCAST material with stretch film.
- Make sure the finished OPENCAST has no sharp edges or causes irritation.
- Be careful of burns when using an oven or a water bath for heating OPENCAST.
Precautions for use
- Do not expose OPENCAST to temperatures higher than 45 ℃.
- Do not use the sauna while wearing the OPENCAST fixation.
- When wearing the OPENCAST on your foot, do not step too hard on the heel. Excessive force may damage the OPENCAST.
- The removal of OPENCAST must be decided by a doctor.
- If OPENCAST starts to cause discomfort, consult a doctor immediately.
